Yep, we are just like Job. For a few years now, since Harriet started on her journey of pain and suffering, we are often tempted to ask “why?” Oh, we try not to moan and groan and complain out loud about the state our Lord has allowed. But I’d be lying if I told you that neither of us asked ourselves, or each other or God “why"?” We never dwell on it but the question often crosses our minds. And I can smell the smoke of Satan on that one when it comes. Sometimes it does come from our old nature. But just as often it comes from ‘ole Smutty Face himself!
Harriet and I have found an answer for ourselves. Someday we may have the chance to tell you. But for now let me just brag on my Sweetheart and our God.
I looked at several different ways that translators interpreted Job 1:20. The key word is translated the same. The BIBLE SAYS that Job “worshipped”. And furthermore, verse 22 says “In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” Nor have I ever heard Harriet voice any complaints nor doubts!
I don’t know how long 37 chapters takes to live but that’s how long Job had to ask. And then in chapter 38, he got God’s answer. But God’s answer was a question of His own.: the issue is not “why?”. The issue is “WHO?” God asked Job, who are you going to trust in trouble?
We are determined to answer with David: “And now, Lord, what (Who) wait I for? my hope is in thee.” Psalm 39:7
The access in Harriet’s arm was clotted again this morning. We do not know what this means since the new access in her leg still needs 2 months to heal.
But, God! And He is still our WHO!
