What a Difference a day makes . . .

Yesterday I was a non-salaried employee of New Tribes Mission.

Today I am a non-salaried retiree of New Tribes Mission.

And to celebrate my first day of “retirement” I slept in until almost 7:30 AM.   Sure hope this condition does not make me lazy and this becomes a habit.  I’ve got too much to do in the service of the King of Kings!

On my last Lord’s Day before “retirement” I had the privilege of doing what our Lord called me to do and that I love more than I can tell you!  I was blessed to be able to preach the wonderful Word of God!

And on my first Lord’s Day of “retirement” I look forward with great anticipation of doing the very same thing: I will be preaching in our home church of Victory Baptist in Millbrook, AL.  This is the church that sent us out to the work of reaching the unevangelized tribes thru New Tribes Mission -38 years ago this month.  After a year of training we became members of the mission and have been ‘to the uttermost parts’ and back.

In Acts 14:27 we are told that after Paul and Barnabas finished their first missionary journey they  returned to their home church and “gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.”

We certainly cannot tell “all” but we look forward to the privilege of reporting back in.

Yep, I might be Dun – but I AIN’T FINISHED!

  1. We know there’s no such word as retirement in your vocabulary! We just learned about the retirement stipulation with NTM and had to laugh. Certainly there are those who need to and will fit into that category, but we know there are ones like yourselves who are just going to treat it as a speedbump. Hope we can do the same someday. Please pass our love on to Harriet.
