Since Harriet’s devastating heart attack in August 2001, I’ve about gotten used to the usual greeting I get from folks: “How’s Harriet?” Thought maybe this would be a good way to keep praying fiends informed.
“Prayer may not change things BUT the Gracious God to Whom we pray does answer and intervene!” *
Our Lord took Harriet home to be with Himself on November 21, 2010. I was holding her in my arms when she took her last breath. I have no doubt that the next thing she heard were those of our Lord “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!” She went from my arms into the arms of her Lord, the only One in the universe who loved her more than I did.
The first responders where here withing minutes and continued the CPR I had started. But there was no response to the defibrillator when they repeatedly shocked her. And according to her wishes and instructions in her living will, they discontinued.
I did not hear any audible voice but in a very real voice I heard our Lord whisper in my heart, ”She’s O K, Dun. I will take her from here.”
