“I’m so sorry. We did all we could to save your mother…”

Those were the sobbing words that the Intensive Care nurses said to our girls six years ago this week. They were in the hallway just outside her cubicle. The life support was removed and the monitor hooked up to my sweetheart went flat line.

But God ! ! !

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years. . ,”

It was this verse in Psalm 90:10 that prompted Vance Havner to entitle one of his last books Fourscore: Living Beyond the Promise”. Harriet is a long way from 80 years but do we have testimony from more than one physician that she has indeed lived six years beyond a survivable “acute myocardial infarction.”

But the GREAT PHYSICIAN said “to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father. . , behold, I will add unto thy days. . .” (Isaiah 38:5). And that same loving and wonderful GREAT PHYSICIAN has added years to the life of my sweetheart.

Thank you, Lord for my letting me have my sweetheart these extra years!
